House numbers aren’t usually considered to be the most exciting part of a home, but they are always in use so why not give them a little more personality? Below are 5 creative house number ideas that will instantly enhance your home’s exterior and let guests know you’re at the right place, come on in!
Modern Greenery House Number Ideas
Now the grass can be greener on your side, or at least your house number will be! I’ve noticed people are obsessed with faux greenery these days and I don’t blame them. It’s the perfect way to keep your home lively all year long without the extra care real plants require. Not to mention, you could easily turn your house number into an interchangeable decor item for different seasons or holidays! You could hang some small ornaments for the Christmas season or add blooming flowers into the mix during the spring! If you’d like to attempt this DIY, you can find the full tutorial on A Beautiful Mess. Script Letters
House numbers don’t actually have to be numbers! A great way to make your home stand out from the neighbors is to opt out of the typical number format and display your house number using words. Picking a font is always the fun part! When choosing, think to yourself what kind of “feel” you want your home to have. The font you end up choosing will become part of the character of your home! If you’re going for a modern feel, I recommend choosing sans serif fonts. But if you’re looking to go towards a more classic route script fonts are the way to go!
Multi-Purpose Pillows
This is one of my favorite house number ideas… I wish I had come up with it myself! But since I didn’t, giving you guys the inside-scoop on how to recreate them will just have to do. These multi-purpose pillows can easily be recreated using heat transfer paper, a printer, an iron and pillow cases. First, print your numbers onto the heat transfer paper. Then, cut out the numbers and follow the directions on the heat transfer paper package. Directions may vary depending on the paper you use, but typically you should place your image/numbers face down and iron on top of the paper, then peel the paper back and TA-DAHHHH!
Pre-Made and Planted
Not the DIY type? or have very little time to complete a full-out DIY project? Try buying pre-made house numbers and simply attach them to the front of any pot or planter. Then, place it somewhere near the front entry and you’re done! It’ll take you ten minutes max and conveniently decorates the area nearby. An even more practical option is to buy stick-on number adhesives, that’ll take take you five minutes… these metallic gold stick-ons would be stunning!

Colorful Metals
Repurposing has become a huge trend lately, and I am fully onboard! I came across this easy DIY and was instantly attracted to the colorful mix-and-matching that’s happening. In this DIY, old license plates were cut out with metal snips then secured with epoxy (you can use nails too) and then repurposed into a house number. This DIY is definitely worth rummaging through a junk yard for! If you’re interested in learning more ways to repurpose, check out my blog post about repurposing thrift store finds.
Now you’re ready to say goodbye to boring house number ideas once and for all!
