The Wayfair Q & A with Faith of Design Fixation
Wayfair: What are the top 3 pieces that you like to update seasonally in your bathroom?
Faith: I love to buy new bath mats seasonally – let’s be honest… they get a little grungy after a few months, and what’s more luxurious than stepping onto something plush and clean after a long shower? It’s a great way to update the style of the room too, with a new color scheme or a different design. I also love to grab some new hand towels every season… it’s a good opportunity to add some character without spending a ton of money. And greenery (whether it’s real or artificial) is also an excellent way to breathe some new life into any space, and a beautiful pot can be a subtle way to infuse some extra style into your space.
Wayfair: Are there any must-have decor pieces that you incorporate on your countertops in order to make it feel calm?
Faith: I like to keep my countertops as empty as possible, leaving plenty of surface area open to spread out my makeup or set down a curling iron. I try to limit its contents to a soap dispenser, a candle and a little bowl for jewelry or trinkets (which is a great way to contain clutter). Then I make sure to give myself lots of storage containers around the rest of the bathroom so I can maintain the calm vibe on the countertops.
Wayfair: Moving on to design aesthetics, what finishes and patterns do you like to add to your bath space?
Faith: I love to combine white, gray and wood tones, giving the space a fresh, clean feel with a touch of eclectic charm. I tend to incorporate color only in textiles and accents, because I can never commit to one color scheme for very long. We have large hexagonal marble tiles in our upstairs bathroom (which I love) but it took months for me to finally settle on that design. Flooring is such a permanent decision!
Wayfair: What type of light fixtures do you prefer in your bathroom?
Faith: I love to have lots of warm light in the bathroom, so a double or triple bulb vanity light is my pick. I love simple metal fixtures with glass globes or domes enclosing the bulbs. It’s always nice to have multiple light sources in any room, so I’d recommend having a ceiling light too if possible.

Bathroom Refresh Inspiration
There are several bathroom trends that I’m loving right now… we recently installed a new vanity with a rectangular sink opening with a curved basin, and I’ve been seeing it a lot lately in other bathroom remodels. It feels modern and unique without being too bizarre. I also love the recent basket trend; people are using mismatched, eclectic baskets everywhere and it looks beautiful and effortless (and very functional).
There are so many ways to refresh your bathroom without doing a full renovation, and it’s a great time to do it now that the seasons are changing. So go ahead and make your space a little bit more luxurious… I give you permission 🙂 You deserve it!
