My little one is a major drooler… we’re talking soaked shirts within an hour of putting them on. So I started sewing little bandana-style drool bibs for her. And of course the logical next step was to make a pattern to sell in my Etsy shop so you guys could learn how to make a bib too!

The great thing about this bib is that it’s reversible, so you can get creative with contrasting patterns. I can’t tell you how many of these I’ve made… I’ve lost track. And my husband’s happy about it because I’m using up some of my embarrassingly gigantic fabric stash that’s been accumulating over the past few years.

If you have a little one at home, this is a fun way to take a break and do something creative while also making a functional item. And it makes a great baby shower gift too! Check out my listing here to download the pattern.

There are so many different ways to customize these bibs… the hand edging above is an easy way to add some pizzazz to the design. I like to have some solid colored bibs to pair with her patterned outfits, and the embroidered edge gives it a unique look. You can buy the embroidery floss at any Michaels store. If you’re not familiar with this embroidery stitch, check out a tutorial here.

Here’s a closeup of the bib with the fringe trim… isn’t it such a fun embellishment? I seriously want to buy it in every color. It was really easy to work with, and it holds up better in the washer than some other types of trim. You can get it on Amazon here.

And of course I had to take a few shots of my dog wearing his matching bandana. The photo shoot went about how you’d expect… the dog was the difficult one! You can get the dog bandana pattern here if you have a fur baby.
