One Room Challenge: Our Space-Saving Bathroom Ideas /// By Design Fixation #bathroom #renovation #shopping

Welcome to week two of the One Room Challenge! (Here’s what I had to say in week one, in case you missed it.) In the months prior to our big bathroom renovation, I was on the hunt for as many space-saving bathroom ideas as I could find. I knew that this would mean lots of light colors and finishes, and carefully chosen storage solutions. So, after much consideration (i.e. hours upon hours upon hours of Pinterest and Amazon searching), here are the items we’re planning to use in our bathroom renovation:

1. Symmons Shower Trim in Chrome
This sleek fixture will set the tone for the rest of the accessories. It’s one of the first things you see when you walk into our bathroom… so it has to look nice!

2. Gatco Latitude II 24″ Towel Bar in Chrome
We will mount two of these on the back of our door – one for Mike and one for me, saving other wall space for decorative art. They coordinate well with the shower trim (which is a fancy word for the faucet… I didn’t know that until recently!).

3. Gatco Latitude II Toilet Paper Holder in Chrome
This toilet paper holder coordinates with the towel bars, and will be in the same shiny chrome as pretty much every other piece of metal in the room.

4. Carrara Bianco Honed Hexagon Bardiglio Strip Marble Mosaic Tile
The rest of the space will be quite understated and light, in an effort to make the space feel larger… but this flooring will be the wow factor. It will really ground the space and give it some serious character.

5. Park Slope Beveled Subway Tile in White
The walls of the shower will be lined with beveled white subway tile and gray grout, to make it easier to clean and to give it some contrast.

6. Style Selections Cromlee Bark Single Vanity
I absolutely adore this vanity… we needed something with some surface area to set down a toothbrush or other miscellaneous bathroom items, so a vessel sink was the obvious choice because it leaves almost the entire countertop open. It also has some much-needed storage space. We don’t love the faucet, however, so we’re replacing it with the next item on the list.

7. Aquafaucet Tall Waterfall Single Handle Chrome Faucet
This faucet is more our style, with a contemporary feel and that shiny chrome finish again. Most waterfall faucets are either super modern or super farmhouse – I love that this falls somewhere in between.

8. Vigo Sanibel Frameless Glass Shower
Our goal for the shower is to go frameless and also be able to make a seamless transition into the shower with the same flooring. It’s roughly the same footprint as our old one, but the rounded shape will give us a bit more elbow room while showering.

9. Wade Logan Aldrich 3-Light Vanity Light
Again, we want something that falls somewhere in between traditional and modern… and I think this fits the bill. I love that the outside glass is clear, while the inner glass is frosted to hide the LED bulbs. Spoiler alert: we already installed it, and it looks amazing. I was worried that the LED light would be too bluish, but it’s a crisp white hue…. warm, inviting and downright lovely.
