DIY Wood Pennant Name Sign + A Coupon Code

DIY Wood Pennant Name Sign /// By Design Fixation #home #decor #diy #wood #name #flag
People always joke that your second kid doesn’t get the same attention that your first kid does… and that’s certainly true for our youngest child’s nursery, anyway. Hadley’s was finished months ahead of time, while Cayden’s was “finished” a couple of weeks before he arrived. I say “finished” in quotes because it looked decent, but it wasn’t anywhere near the vision that I had for it. And one of the things that I always wanted was something personalized with his name (although his name was another thing that we procrastinated on haha). So when I saw CraftCuts’ new pennant banner name sign kit, I knew it would be the perfect finishing touch for Cayden’s room. I customized it with a combination of stain and paint, and today I’m sharing the process with you so you can recreate the look. Begin by staining the triangular wood pennant banner. You can get all of the wooden elements at CraftCuts.com… use coupon code DESIGN10 at checkout for 10% off! Valid now through October 12th, 2022. Dip an old rag in the stain and wipe it on the pennant banner in a circular motion. You’ll probably want to wear protective rubber gloves to avoid getting the stain on your skin (trust me).

While the stain is drying, paint the name with acrylic craft paint. Choose a color that complements the room in which you’ll be hanging the pennant banner. Make sure that the color contrasts enough so that it stands out from the stained wood flag background.

While the paint dries, cut four felt rectangles that are about 2 x 1/2 inch in size. Flip the pennant flag over and attach the rectangles using hot glue.

Glue the name onto the pennant flag using hot glue. Work quickly so the glue doesn’t dry as you’re working.

And you’re finished! Mount the pennant banner to the wall using 3M Command picture hanging strips. These banners look great in a nursery, but they would also work well in an entryway or a game room too.
