I’ve always loved the idea of modular furniture… you can arrange it in different ways, kind of like real-life Tetris. So when our TV stand/toy storage situation got out of control, I decided to do away with the mishmash of pieces and simplify by choosing a modular style.
Modular living room furniture is super versatile – if you move to a new home that can’t accommodate a large TV stand, for example, you can simply separate them and use the two cabinets in different areas of your home.
We wanted something bigger and more functional. The one we chose was from Wayfair (you can check it out here) and we couldn’t be happier. If you’re on the hunt for a TV stand but aren’t sure about this one, check out these others… Wayfair has a ginormous selection.
Here’s what our old TV stand area looked like. It was a mix of different colors and containers and it was also too small for the TV. The new one is so much more streamlined and clean looking. The scale fits our TV better, and it also provides way more storage.
The assembly of the new pieces wasn’t difficult per se, but it was quite time consuming. Wayfair does however offer assembly for $84, which I would probably get if I did it again.
I also tried separating the two pieces and putting them in different areas to see how they looked. I actually love this arrangement too! For us, it makes more sense to use them together as a TV stand, but I could definitely envision using them in a different configuration if we ever moved to another house with a new layout.
So tell me, have you guys ever tried modular furniture?
