As with pretty much everything in life, I like to make party decorations rather than buying store-bought ones. I mean, I made practically everything at our wedding. So when I was tasked with coming up with some DIY baby shower ideas for my friend Christi’s shower, I was pretty jazzed to have a good excuse to make a trip to the craft supply store (when the store employees started recognizing me, I had to start justifying my trips in my mind 🙂 ).
She loved the idea of using stars as one of the design elements, so I started cutting paper stars using these handy craft punches. We’re talking a lot of stars here people. Because you can use them everywhere! First, I used a hot glue gun to attach them to striped paper straws. I glued them about two inches from the top.
I also scattered the stars on each of the tables, on top of a burlap runner that I got on Amazon. I put blue and white hydrangea in plain white vases along the runner as well.
For the favors, I wrapped tiny succulents in pieces of neutral linen fabric (double sided tape helped them stay in place) and then tied kraft paper tags to each one using blue and white bakers twine. I got to practice my lettering skills for both the tags and the welcome sign below.
For the sign, I did the layout on the computer and then used that as a guide for the final piece. And I did it using a chalk marker on kraft paper, so I could just start again on a new piece if I messed up. Then I attached artificial greenery similar to this around the top corners using hot glue.
And of course, I had to use my felt letter board which I’m completely obsessed with. I got this one here and I absolutely love it. You could customize yours with all kinds of fun sayings!
So as you can see, there are lots of easy DIY baby shower ideas that won’t take too long to make, but will certainly contribute to the overall vibe of the event.
