We have a lot of IKEA products in our house, but you probably wouldn’t know it if you came to visit. That’s because pretty much every piece has been transformed using an IKEA hack, so that it’s no longer recognizable as being from the Swedish furniture giant. Keep reading to check out ten of my most popular hacks that I’ve done over the years!
1. A Living Room IKEA Hack
This end table is actually a double IKEA hack, made using two Lack shelves and the legs from a Marius stool. The key is to find a beautiful, durable metallic contact paper that you love to cover the seam in between the two Lacks. This type is my favorite, and it currently comes in a handful of new colors. Check out my full tutorial here.
2. A Dining Room IKEA Hack
This one doesn’t look anything like an IKEA hack, but it actually uses the Snudda lazy Susan underneath and a larger piece of pine on top (I used one like this). Then you create the unique finish using this totally genius clear chalkboard finish. Get my tutorial here.
3. A Bathroom Hack
This hanging basket planter IKEA hack can be tucked in the corner of your bathroom… your plants will thrive in the humid atmosphere! You can buy the blue cord here. And check out my full instructions here.
4. An IKEA Hack For The Hallway
Believe it or not, this mirror is made using an IKEA cork trivet and thumbtacks! You can buy the mirror here and these are the thumbtacks that I used. Check out the tutorial here.
5. A Family Room IKEA Hack
Can you guess what part of this space is from IKEA? The blue straws on the wall hanging! Get the full how-to here.
6. A Little Something For The Office
This IKEA hack didn’t come to me right away… but I was so excited when it did! It’s a double hack – both the little basket lampshade and the USB lamp are from IKEA. Check out the tutorial here.
7. A Bedroom IKEA Hack
I still use this mirror jewelry storage IKEA hack today (these photos were taken at my old apartment). I loved it so much that I reassembled it when we moved into our new house. Find out more here.
8. A Mudroom IKEA Hack
Every good mudroom needs a bench so you can take your boots off easily… this upholstered one started out as a cork bench. Find out how to recreate it yourself here.
9. A Hack For The Kitchen
My indoor herb garden IKEA hack is by far my most popular to date – it’s made from a wine rack that’s turned on its side. Find out how to do it here.
10. An Entryway IKEA Hack
This gold shelf could really go anywhere, but it makes a nice display shelf for welcoming guests into your home. I made it from the utilitarian galvanized metal Hyllis shelf! And be sure to use a high quality spray paint… this is my absolute favorite brand. It’s incredible you guys. Here’s the shelf tutorial.
