{Thirsty Thursday} The Jack Smith

There’s something so tart and delicious about a Granny Smith apple. And while red apples are a fall fruit, green apples scream summer (in my opinion, anyway). So I decided I must create a cocktail using that flavor. So here it is, for you to try!

Here is a list of ingredients that you’ll need for my fun new concoction, the Jack Smith:

– 2 ounces of Laird’s Applejack
– 1 ounce of Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
– 2-4 ounces of soda water
– 1 Granny Smith Apple
– 1 ounce of fresh lemon juice
– 1/2 ounce of real maple syrup

Begin by pouring the Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur into a shaker. Next, cut your apple in half, just left of center. Then cut a thin slice off of the smaller piece. This will be the garnish for your Jack Smith. Rub a bit of lemon juice over the surface of the slice to prevent browning. Next, dice the other half of the apple and add to the shaker. Muddle the apple pieces to extract as much juice as possible. Now add the Applejack, lemon juice, maple syrup and a few ice cubes and shake for at least 10 seconds. Pour into a mason jar over ice, and top with soda water. Garnish with your apple slice and add a straw (preferably a cute striped one).

Be careful of this sneaky drink – it’s one of those that doesn’t taste very strong, but in reality it packs a big punch. Before you know it, you’ll be dancing on the table. Just kidding, that never happened. Not that night anyways 😉

Let me know how you like it! And check out the rest of my Thirsty Thursday original cocktail recipes right here... if you’re more of a grapefruit fan, you’ll love the Ruby Red Swizzle.
