UncommonGoods

Rest by Jon Duenas

UncommonGoods is always the first place I go for gifts around the holidays, and year-round for birthdays (and every now and then to order some goodies for myself). They really have something for everyone. In case you’re unfamiliar, UncommonGoods is a Brooklyn-based retailer that features handcrafted gift items created without harm to animals or people. They have clever, original pieces for those “tough to buy for” people on your list. But now they’re becoming known for their growing inventory of beautiful artwork. You can find the pieces organized by medium here.

All The Cactus In Arizona by James Gulliver Hancock

They sell everything from mixed media to original paintings to prints. I was most drawn to the prints section, found here – there was a wide variety of styles, and many were really quite affordable. I’m drooling over the black and white cactus print shown above by James Gulliver Hancock… I love the varied lines and textures that he uses in all of his pieces. I have a bit of a thing for cacti, and since I can’t seem to keep them alive, this would be a much better alternative.

Balloons Over Central Park by Ashley Davis

I also found some pretty stellar photography on the site… some pieces were more traditional, while others were quite abstract. I like the pops of color in Balloons Over Central Park – there’s something so darn HAPPY about balloons, isn’t there?

And now for some exciting news for any artists out there… UncommonGoods now accepts submissions all year round! So if you’re interested in submitting your work for consideration, click here. What a great opportunity!
