Lately I’ve been craving some new jewelry, but I didn’t really feel like forking over all that cash… so I decided I’d make a few pieces. My favorite is this sea foam blue beaded necklace, and I thought I’d share my process with all of you!
This tutorial is not complicated; it would be a great beginning necklace for those of you who don’t have as much experience making jewelry, and it would be very simple 20 minute project for a seasoned beader.
So here we go! For this necklace, you will need:
– 5 faceted stone beads (these are pretty)
– 24 inches of silver wire chain
– 15 inches of thin, pliable silver wire
– Fine nose pliers (with a wire cutter)
Cut the silver wire into 5 pieces, 3 inches long each. Slip a bead over one piece of wire, and loop the last link of the remaining chain over it, as shown below.
Wrap the end of the wire around the chain link twice so that they are securely bound together. Next, slide the bead over to that point so that it is sitting tightly against the chain. Wrap the other end of the wire around the last link of one of the small pieces of chain using the same technique. Now take your next bead and slide it over another piece of wire, and attach to this small piece of chain. Continue in this same manner until all of the beads are attached.
