Imagine my surprise when, while browsing Design*Sponge, I ran across a Sneak Peek of the home of one of my classmates at Skidmore College. Now this was no ordinary Sneak Peek, this was one of those homes that makes your jaw drop down onto your keyboard. Clean lines, gorgeous custom pieces, and perfect finishing touches fill this Brooklyn brownstone. By now it’s all over the blogosphere, a veritable cyber hit. Below is my favorite shot:
But as I continued reading, it occurred to me that it was those custom pieces that really made the design of the home such a success. Many of these pieces were created by the owners of the brownstone, one of which being Fitzhugh Karol who graduated a year ahead of me at Skidmore. Now I remember Fitzhugh mostly from the clay studio where he spent much of his time during those years, but he has since shifted his focus to working with wood. Take a look at his most recent work below:
He notes that he plans to further pursue this sliding door concept; be sure to look for more work of this nature in the future. Don’t forget to check out his website where he features plenty of other great work. Thanks Fitzhugh, for sharing your work with us!
