What do we have here? They always say that imitation is the highest form of flattery… but Jackson Pollock seems to have been very fond of Janel Sobel. Click here for an interesting article detailing the connection between the two artists. Pollock saw a Sobel exhibit, then began pursuing his own drip paintings that he’s so famous for. Coincidence? I think not. The poor lady never got quite as much publicity as Jackson Pollock did, but I really like her work. It’s more colorful than Pollock’s, giving it a different sort of depth. Very appealing. I especially like the first one.
